Case Study: Nila's Compassionate Approach to Health Management

At Nila, one of our core values is to treat every family we work with as an extension of our own. This goes a long way to driving our commitment to compassion and ownership in handling health issues. This case study exemplifies how Nila proactively identified and resolved a concerning health issue for one of our customers.

Identifying the Issue

Recently, one of our customers, diligent in monitoring his father’s health, noticed a spike in Mr. Pradeep’s blood pressure during routine checks. We, together as Nila and family, decided to observe the situation closely before taking further action when we noticed that this seemed to trigger some stress in Mr. Pradeep. A few days later, the readings remained high, despite Mr. Pradeep’s regular medication regimen for hypertension. This was a cause for concern as it was unusual for someone under medication to experience such elevated blood pressure levels.

Investigation and Intervention

Responding swiftly, Nila organised a visit from a general practitioner to conduct a manual blood pressure check. While the readings were slightly lower than indicated by the family’s digital monitor, they still pointed to an issue needing attention. Collaborating closely with the family, the doctor and our care manager delved into Mr. Pradeep’s diet habits. They discovered that despite receiving healthy meals, the family had recently begun adding extra salt and spices for taste, and frequently consumed sugary syrup-based juices to combat the brutal summer heat. These dietary choices, common yet often overlooked contributors to health issues, were identified as the likely cause of the elevated blood pressure.

Personalized Care and Follow-Up

With a focus on personalised care, our care manager worked closely with the family to devise practical dietary adjustments. Recommendations included reducing salt and spice intake while replacing sugary juices with healthier alternatives like buttermilk. With regular follow-ups, we helped with compliance and monitored progress closely.

Outcome and Relief

Through these proactive measures and ongoing support, Mr. Pradeep’s blood pressure gradually returned to normal within a few days. The family, initially stressed by the unexpected health concern, were now relieved.

We understand the challenges families face, especially when loved ones are miles away. If you are an NRI concerned about your parents’ health in India, Nila offers the peace of mind you seek.
